Fallout 3 was Altered for Japan

Fallout 3, developed by Bethesda Game Studios and released in 2008, is a phenomenal post-apocalyptic RPG game, that received universal acclaim.

Yet, did you know that its Japanese version is a little bit altered?

Fallout 3 has a side mission, named ‘The Power of the Atom’, where the players are given the choice to detonate an atomic bomb. But, due to the fact that the memories of the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki remain strong and haunting in Japan, the detonation option was removed -as well as Mr. Burke.

Also, this version has renamed the grenade launcher, as it was originally called ‘Fat Man’, a name that refers to the bomb which incinerated Nagasaki in 1945.

In my humble opinion, Bethesda Game Studios did the right thing, because no one in Japan needs to revive this tragedy -not even in a digital form!
