Nintendo 3DS is a handheld console released by Nintendo in 2011. Its name came because the console has 3D stereoscopic effects, along with various extra features. The main competitor of the console was Playstation Vita. However, after a bad start and a price reduction 6 months after its launch from US$249 to US$169 triggered by bad sales, the console dominated the market. Nintendo offered 10 NES games and 10 GBA games to the customers that bought the console with the initial price. Nintendo 3DS has backward compatibility with all the games of Nintendo DS.
Nintendo 3DS XL is a larger version of Nintendo 3DS released on July 28, 2012 in Japan for ¥18,900 and later in the other markets worldwide featuring 90% larger screens.
