Atari Lynx II is a console that came after Atari Lynx and released in July of 1991. With a slightly improved hardware, improved battery (from 3-4 hours to 4-5 hours) and an improved design, Lynx II launching was an attempt of Atari to compete with Game boy's significant difference in sales. The cost dropped to $99 and the sales improved but Game boy still dominated the market. In Lynx II Atari added also rubber hand grips, improved the LCD screen adding a power saving option which turns off the back light and changed the headphone jack (from monaural to stereo). Lynx and Lynx II sold almost 3 million units but Atari didn't manage to stop the success of Nintendo's Game Boy.
