RDI, a manufacturer of some famous games such as Dragon's Lair and Space Ace, tried to release a home console in 1985, the first CD based console, RDI Halcyon. What made this attempt quite astonishing was the fact that the console relied on speech recognition and artificial intelligence, back in 1985. However, in 1985 RDI declared bankruptcy and RDI Halcyon never released in mass production. It is know that only 2 games were completed before the console was abandoned and about 11 units were manufactured in total. RDI Halcyon was going to be released for US$2500.
